On-Track Plant - FAQ

Here are some of the questions I often get asked..

1 - What OTP have names?

Quite a few. These can be found written in italic text in the sightings pages, and now in the NAMES section.

2 - Can I send you some photos for inclusion on the site?

Yes - please! The more unusual the better. Especially welcome are photos of rare machines, preserved machines, machines no longer with us, and foreign machines.

Please remember to include number, date, place, photographer name (if it's not you) and any other info you feel is of interest.

Also, can I ask that emails are no bigger than 3Mb please.

3 - How do I see the OTP at [insert location here]?

Most major plant depots have a 'location profile' on this site. If the place you are looking for isn't on the list, then I don't know. If you can add to the list, then please send it in.

4 - Does [insert company here] have a website?

If it's not in the links section, then probably not. If you find one which is missing, then please let me know.

5 - Can you put a link on OTPnet to my website please?

Maybe.

We only add links to sites that are operated by regular contributors; or to sites that we feel are of interest to our visitors.

6 - Do you have any plans or technical specifications of a tamper so I can model one?

No. Nor any other machines.

You could try asking on the OTPgen mailing list, or some specialist modelling lists & sites.

7 - Can we buy/hire any OTP from you?

No - this is an enthusiast website.

You could try some of the companies in the links section.

8 - Your OTP200x book is excellent! When is the next one out?

Sorry to tell you this, but I am not the author of the books - that is best left to the chaps at NPT Publishing!

The 2005 edition of the book is now out. Again, I am not the author.

More details can be found here.

9 - What is "OTPgen"?

It is a mailing list where members can send observations and news etc of any OTP. If you're looking for very recent sightings, then this is the place to go - I'm not very quick when it comes to updating this site!

Visit OTPgen...

10 - Why do some numbers in the sightings/photo section begin with a #?

These machines don't carry any running numbers, so the number given is the unique build number of the machine.
