Location Profile - Doncaster Hexthorpe
Thanks to Ben Williams for the details about this location
Another Jarvis depot - I think previously used more as an electrification engineers depot especially during ECML work.
Directions (view map)
Take a right out of the station into Trafford Way and then right into the A630 Cleveland Street (see map) heading south parallel to the railway. Then take a right turn into Roberts Road and continue straight on - the entrance to the depot is on the bend at the end of this road - clearly marked with a Jarvis sign. Some stock can be seen without entering past the gates here, alternatively more stock can be viewed from Cherry Tree Lane on the other side of the railway. Trains to Sheffield pass here which probably offer better views than anywhere else.
Usual machines
I believe most of the stock here is stored including a multitude of cranes including 96100, most of the 963xx bolster wagons, 965xx rail mounted excavators, 96510 PV5, Piling Machine 96511 and GPC-38 96512/3/4. RRs also sometimes present as well as some stored ballast packers although these cannot be viewed from any public vantage point.
