Type 27A Mk III, Work No. 6652 of 1953. It has non standard bodywork as it was converted by BR for rail warming duties in connection with continuos welded rail work in the early seventies. This includes a full bulkhead behind the drivers seat, replacement of front passenger seat by a wooden toolbox, plating over of rear windows and removal of rear seating. This enabled the rear compartment to carry a bank of oxygen and propane bottles to power the rail heaters. The roof over this section has hinged panels at the outsides to enable the oxygen bottles to stand up. Purchased from Ashton depot in Bristol in 1978.
Currently awaiting completion of wheel bearing work on the front axle.
