700 is only the third Rail Recorder to see use in Ireland, it replaced a converted Bg/Dc ex GSR insp car as converted, prior to that they used a LINEMASTER, looked like a loco with four wheels, very close together and a stumpy bonnet. It pulled a tyne on rails plus a responder trolley using rail bars, a really odd looking outfit, first used in the 1950s. Will dig photo out and post it to the site. Can anyone give me anymore info on this LINEMASTER unit.
