The IRS now list this as "stolen and destroyed" so presumably it was torched by the thieves after they had had their fun with it.

I think the story went like this - it was stolen, reported found on an estate somewhere but the recovery lorry wasnt big enough to take it away so it was left there... only to be stolen again for a second time and then found abandoned and burnt out.
