I am very please to annunce that a Wickham Trolley Rally is to be held at The Foxfield Railway (http://www.foxfieldrailway.co.uk) on the weekend of the 14th & 15th July 2012.
On the Saturday, there will be no passenger trains running so access to all parts of the 3.5 mile line should be possible, including the Blythe Bridge line and the infamous Foxfield bank (1:19 gradient).
The current plan is to have a cavalcade of Wickham Trolleys traversing the whole length of the line, plus separate runs up and down Foxfield bank. This will be a unique opportunity for Wickham owners to use their trolleys on a very demanding and picturesque railway line.
On the Sunday, steam passenger trains will be running, but Wickham Trolleys will be able to run around the Caverswall Road station site, possibly giving members of the public rides.
Also, the Foxfield bank and possibly the Blythe Bridge line will be used for demonstration Wickham Trolley runs during the day.
Therefore, the weekend should see some intensive Wickham operation.
If you are interested in your bringing your Wickham Trolley to take part in the event, please contact myself (jonathan.flood72@btinternet.com) or Chris Withington (chris.withington@LH-Group.co.uk) as soon as possible.
Non-running Wickhams are also welcome to attend and be displayed and if they have working brakes they can be towed along the line.
---
Please also note that the following weekend 21st & 22nd July, is the Foxfield Gala and an invitation has been extended for Wickham owners to stay on at Foxfield for this event.
The format for both days will be the intensive use of steam engines on both passenger and freight services with the Wickhams doing demonstration runs at Caverswall Road station and around the Colliery sidings at the other end of the line. Other operations are also being discussed for this day.
---
Full itineraries and details concerning overnight camping / accomodation will be published in due course, but if you have any questions please get in touch with either Chris or myself.
---
I hope both Owners & Enthusiasts will support this event and make it great success and something that could be repeated in future years.
