Bance Alumi-Carts
30th March 2004 - thanks to Peter Hall for this article
Roger Butcher and Peter Hall have kindly supplied the following details of the Bance Alumi-Carts owned by British Rail Infrastructure Services (BRIS). They would be particularly interested in any observations of these and those in the R. Bance & Company hire fleet made before 2000 giving details of location observed, numbers (if any carried) and associated trailers in order to complete the picture.
Any details should be forwarded to Peter Hall.
The Fifth edition of On-Track Plant of British Railways listed the six Bance Alumi-Carts owned by BRIS. Subsequently another eight were acquired. All of these are shown below under the former BR region in which they were located. It should be noted that the serial number carried by these Trolleys was normally prefixed by a '2' denoting that it was a two-seater. It should also be noted that several Alumi-Carts from the R. Bance & Company hire fleet also saw use with BRIS.
