Suspect this is either DR79266 or DR79276. My understanding is both left Worksop last week destined for Poland.
Not so sure Peter - cab is a different shape and M25 pic seems to show cab at both ends?
Unless it has had serious modifications prior to export...
I've made some further enquiries in the secretive world of rail grinding and it does now appear two grinders have been receiving attention at Worksop this year. Some confusion now as to whether one or both left w/e 17th July.
With regard to ontrackplant.com entries for EU1 - DR79266+DR79276, DR79276 is shown exported whilst DR79266 isn't. Thus, both show in a search of "792xx series - rail grinders" if "View all vehicles" is used but only DR79266 if "View extant vehicles" is used.
There is a sighting for both DR79266 and DR79276 on 21 Sep 2013 on the WCML which is a bit suspicious as believed to have been in mainland Europe at the time.
Both DR79266 & DR79276 I would suggest need "Notes" changing to reflect thet returned to GB for overhaul in 2017 at Holbeck, 2020 at York and 2021 at Worksop.
I'm now not sure whether EU1 - DR79266+DR79276 is now at Worksop, elsewhere in GB or has returned to Mainline Europe.
The second rail-grinder that has been at Worksop is probably the one in the picture. No other details are known about this one other than it had not previously visited GB and was brought into the country for modification / overhaul and has now reached Poland.
To confuse things further, it now appears that UK4 DR79265+DR79264+DR79274 minus DR79264 has now moved to Worksop, presumably for attention. Where then is DR79264 currently located?
DR 79265 + DR79274 worked York Thrall Europe - Woking down recep on the 23rd July but there was only the 2 units DR 79264 wasn't with them.
Appears that Worksop might have wrongly been quoted when Woking was where DR79265+DR79274 were heading.
Yesterday they were reported at Hoo Junction, however DR79264+DR79275 are also reported at Hither Green. Suspect this is an error for DR79274+DR79265.
I asked the chap who commented on the original photo. He says it came in from Italy to Worksop for commissioning last December (brand new but it sat unused in Italy for a couple of years) before departing back to Poland. He says there is another two car grinder at Worksop that will be going abroad when finished...
I think I've updated the various records and deleted the incorrect sightings.
UK4 has recently undergone 8-yearly overhaul and has returned to service as a 2-car consist (DR79265 & DR79274). DR79264 is out of service and is receiving engine upgrade (CAT C13 engine). In Oct 2021, DR79265 & DR79274 will be removed from service (for about a month) to also receive the engine upgrade, before UK4 is returned to service as a 3-car consist.
EU1 (DR79266 & DR79276) has been sold (Czech Republic, I think).
The grinder in the pic is destined for Hungary (sold).
Hope this helps.
Ok great - thanks for the info and updates.
"The grinder in the pic is destined for Hungary (sold)."
Does anyone have the builders number for this Grinder and location and year of original manufacture?
Hi guys, the rail grinder Harsco DR79266 & DR79276 is now in Czech Republic. My company bought it and now i am working on it.
