We don't seem to have it listed and this number doesn't seem to appear in early books?
Paul Bartlett picture here confirms it used to be a tamper...
Anyone got any more info please?
Keith Gunner has come to the rescue here - he tells us:
"DB965202 was a Plasser & Theurer VKR05Tamper, w/n 379/1964. It was converted to an Engineers'' rail trolley numbered DB96502 (sic) by 3/1971 (was this following damage?)
For those old enough to remember the SCWS (Southern Carriage and Wagon Society) (an amazing resource), notice SN58 of 5-6/1965 referred to DB965202 as "one of the SR's new Plassermatic tamping machines"."
We'll add a record for this one.
It looks like a Plasser VKR05/05E tamper. A photo of 05E 74108 at Wittersham Rd K & ESR shows a similar layout apart from having an extension for the radiator and lack of headlights.
Therefore this could be an 05 tamper or an even earlier machine of the 01 type some of which were converted.
Entry for this now added. Any sightings or photos / further details appreciated.
