Isle of Man OTP

Having just returned from a week on the Isle of Man, I thought that I would do a little round up and report my findings of the OTP on the island as any information seems to be a bit fragmented, not just on this website but in general! I will add any photos, sightings and comments of machines on their individual pages in due course but I thought that I would create this discussion as not all machines that are on the island are on this website. Also, when searching for the Isle of Man the Auldyn Construction machines do not come up unless specifically searching for it. Hopefully the admins can pick up on these and I hope that I haven't just opened a can of worms!

Steam Railway:

99709 943032-1 - Dumper - Now owned by the steam railway since 2022, not Auldyn. I have a recent photo if needed?

If you can share photos of everything, that would be great thank you. I'll then try and resolve the lists etc.

The trailers CR1/H001 and CR2/H002 are the same.

The MEC4/MTRL are Consillia-built, not Bance. Wonder if they're from the recent LUL sale?

The MEC4/MTRL was supplied new to the IoM in 2018. Contrary to Obar123's report, this is owned by Auldyn and used on various contracts throughout the IoM, notably it was used on the Douglass horse tram upgrade.

943032-1 is also one which I'd question ownership, again contrary to Obar's report - this also appears to be owned by Auldyn, and until recently was outbased at Snaefell Mountain Railway, Bungalow Station (3ft 6in gauge).

Alex, if you look at the MER facebook page, they posted on the 30th July 2020, stating that the Thwaites Dumper and MEC4 are shared between both the MER and Steam Railway, and as both railways (and horse tramway) are owned by the IoM Government this would make sense. Auldyn do not own 943032-1, they own a SHERPA dumper with a flatbed instead of a dump bucket and this is usually located on the Snaefell Railway at Bungalow, however it was not seen on my recent trip. If you search on this website for Auldyn it will come up with two completely different vehicles, I think that you are confusing both of them together! I am in the process of uploading the photos, including some smaller trolleys that I have seen there aswell.

Obar - this is fine - unfortunately, an IRS member who visited the IoM last year was given the information as I posted, which confuses matters.

The MEC 4 was definitely used by Auldyn on the horse tramway upgrade - unless it was hired from the IoM Government.

Whilst I'm aware SHERPA is owned by Auldyn, the IRS member was told that 943032 was also owned by Auldyn (unless they provide some maintenance to it?)

You may be right, I was only going by the information on the supporters website and Facebook! To be honest, I think they share the machines around as from Auldyns Facebook, they hired the steam railway's tamper to do some work on the MER the other year, as they are the main contractors for the government there alongside the infrastructure/railways maintenence divisor.
