Hello All
I am planning a trip to the Cardiff -Merthyr Tydfil valley line this weekend and was wondering where the access point for Troed-Y-Rhiw is. Looking on Google Street view and Satellite around the station area I cannot see anywhere that fits the bill. Can anyone give me an address, postcode or grid ref please?
I know where the access points for Taffs Well and Radyr are but does anyone know of any other definite or likely plant locations on that route as well please?
Thanks in anticipation
Martin

Hi Martin the access to point by car is off the roundabout at troed y rhiw ,but is manned by security and is a long drive and not likely to let you drive down.
The best way to view the compound and get up close is to drive down south view off the A4054 ,when at the bottom of south view turn right and drive to the end of the road and park your car .
Their is a public footpath which goes down the side of a house and over a green bridge which leads you onto field which as the compound, where you can walk on the grass and pick up the machines with binoculars
The post code to the area is CF48 4DS ,but use the above route to get close .
Good Luck.

Hello YP
Many thanks for your comprehensive directions and postcode for Troed Y Rhiw.
I have followed this on Google Maps and can see exactly where I need to park and walk to get to the little bridge. I will take my binoculars with me on the walk
Still hoping to get there this weekend and will post anything I see on the site as normal
Thanks again and Best Regards
Martin

Hi Martin
Just a quick update if you are travelling by car it looks like Archer St is the best road to go down by car to get to the said public footpath and over the green bridge ,when I visited I was on foot and up and down different streets.
All the best.

Thanks to YP and others for their help.
Troed compound - the footbridge now has fencing on the far side which diverts you onto the access road. There was a gap in fence though (I assume it is still a footpath route - a sign warns pedestrians of vehicle movements) so you can walk alongside the access road. I crossed over and up onto a mound for better view. Currently extremely muddy!
A few machines at Taffs Well too but nothing at Radyr. A couple at Rhymney too.
