Balfour Beatty 07 Disposals
Balfour Beatty have started to dispose of their older Plasser 07 tampers stored at Ashford and Hither Green. Destination Kingsbury, the following left Ashford between 15th & 17th May: 73246, 73257, 73261, 73263, 73266, 73276, 73311 & 73424. The three machines at Hither Green left a week later - 73251, 73278 and 86101.
Snowplough movements
Two of Network Rail's redundant independent snowploughs left Peterborough on the 22nd. 965233 went to Booths and 965232 went to NRM, Shildon.
L&W Contractors
Further details of the Rexquote Megarailer mentioned last month (940766) have now been established. It is a Komatsu PW160 Megarailer and has been delivered to L&W Contractors.
Total Rail Solutions
TRS have taken delivery of a new Permaquip Kubota RTV900, fleet number TRS937 (975115).
Network Rail wagon fire
Two of Network Rail's Plasser MFS-D ballast wagons were involved in a serious fire at Norton Bridge on the WCML on the evening of May 30th, causing major disruption on the line between Stafford and the north.
The wagons involved were 92242 & 92259 and were in the consist of the 6D51 working from Crewe Basford Hall to Toton. The entire rake of wagons moved to Stafford where the damaged vehicles are to be removed for assessment.
Preservation Movements
DR73250, preserved at the Kent & East Sussex Railway has been sold and is to head north soon.
ex GrantRail TracGopher GR5110 has been sold by the York Area Group (NYMR) and will be heading to it's new owner shortly.
Preservation Disposal
ex Balfour Beatty HCT037 was scrapped at the Nene Valley during April/May. When it arrived in June 2012 it was in a very poor condition and only deemed suitable for spares to donate to sister machine HCT022.
