Balfour Beatty Order Four New Tampers

Balfour Beatty have ordered four new Unimat 08-4x4/4S machines from Plasser & Theurer. These new machines will be fitted with electric tamping units to reduce noise, diesel, and carbon dixoide.

South Devon Railway - OTMs for sale

The South Devon Railway are in the process of disposing of their Plasser GP-TRAMM (98210) and 07-16 tamper (73274). Neither have seen use since 2022 and need some work to get going again.

If you're interested in acquiring either machine, details can be found at here: 73274 and 98210 - closing date for bids is 30 September 2024, with the machines being destined for scrap if no-one wants them.

VolkerRail S&C Beaver Tamper Returns

VolkerRail's "Beaver 2010" returned to Great Britain from The Netherlands during August. It has moved to Frodingham for recertification works prior to being used on the national network.

This one briefly visited the Nexus Tyne & Wear Metro network in autumn 2012, before going back to Europe.
