On-Track Plant Roundup - September 2025

Here is a very short round-up of on-track plant news during September 2025.
New Tampers Receive Approval
In the middle of September the six new Plasser & Theurer 08-4x4/4S Unimat tampers were approved by the ORR for use on the rail network. Interestingly two more were listed in the approval - DR73959 and DR73960 for Colas Rail, due in 2026.
Balfour Beatty's DR73957 subsequently moved to the Swanage Railway for further testing and commissioning.
Network Rail High Output Track Relaying System Sale
During September the Matisa P95 High Output Track Renewal Train and associated wagons which were recently offered for sale by Network Rail moved from Parkeston Yard to Burton-on-Trent Nemesis Rail depot. The formation was completed at the end of the month with DR76751 which was moved from Taunton Fairwater yard.
Network Rail MPV named "Ctrl Alt Deleaf"
During September Network Rail unveiled one of their MPV Rail Head Treatment Trains in an eye-catching autumnal livery, along with the "CTRL ALT DELEAF" name which was chosen after a competition last year.
