New on-track machines

Eurailscout

A name not seen in the country since the Plasser UFM160 unit left in 2010, Eurailscout returned here in June 2023 with one of their seven Switch Inspection Machines. SIM14 "Sentinel" arrived at Didcot by road from Holland at the start of June and was subsequently moved to Bristol Kingsland Road by a single Rail Operation's Group class 20 locomotive. It spent several nights working in the Bristol area doing exactly what the name suggests - inspecting various switches and junctions in the vicinity of Temple Meads, East Junction and West Junction. After spending the weekend at Didcot again, it was moved again to Southall yard on the 12th for further overnight inspections in the Paddington area.
