Here is a short round-up of on-track plant news during July 2025.

Derby - The Greatest Gathering 2025

At the start of August 2025, Alstom and Railway 200 hosted a long open weekend at Litchurch Lane Works celebrating 200 years of railways. A small number of machines were on display and are listed here.

Swietelsky Acquire Network Rail Machines

Further to last month's article, two more machines (DR77904 & DR77905) were moved from Parkeston Yard to Swietelsky's Worksop depot at the start of July.

Tampers - Deliveries

Balfour Beatty's third new Plasser tamper arrived at the start of July and moved to West Ealing for commissioning.

DR73957 - Plasser & Theurer Unimat 08-4x4/4S Tamper

The fourth and final new machine followed at the end of July. This arrival meant all six recent tamper deliveries were on site at Plasser (UK) in West Ealing - four for Balfour Beatty, and two for Colas Rail.

Rail Grinders - Deliveries

At the start of July a new four-car rail grinder arrived at Loram UK's Derby depot. Whilst at Derby it will be fitted with ETCS signalling system, and undergo testing & commissioning. Once all of that is complete, the unit will replace the old C2101 grinding train.
